Glowworm are a highly regarded manufacturer of gas fires, BBUs, and boilers. They have been around since 1934 and are now owned by the Vaillant Group.

Radiants are a key component of gas fires, enabling them to heat-up extremely quickly. They rapidly conduct and radiate heat and can maintain high levels of heat even when the gas supply is subsequently lowered.

The Oxypilot is a safety device that is responsible for ensuring that carbon monoxide levels are safe and regulated. It is able to detect the oxygen percentage and turn off the gas valve/pilot light if this is too low. All gas fires are fitted with this component.

Thermocouples are simple devices that are used to measure temperatures. They do this by generating a small voltage. The function of a thermocouple in a boiler is to shut off the gas valve if the pilot light goes out. This makes it a key component from a safety perspective. Thermocouples are fairly inexpensive and durable.

Control knobs are fitted to both boilers and fires and enable the user to control the levels of gas flowing through the system.

An automatic air vent is a small safety-related component. It uses a floatation device that opens/closes based on the level of water in the system. If the system is full of water, the vent remains closed until the level drops. This component is found in a number of Glowworm appliances.

The electrode is a crucial boiler component that creates the initial spark that kicks off the combustion process. It also monitors whether there is a flame in the burner.
