LPG is not very popular in the UK due to the lack of infrastructure and demand. This explains why so many people know very little about the fuel that traces its origins to crude oil refineries and gas fields. Nonetheless, some LPG consumables remain popular in the UK. An excellent example is the liquid PTFE thread seal and pipe thread sealing compound. Both are economical and efficient ways to seal pipes that transport liquids and gas. Should you be concerned about LPG explosions? The short answer is, no. It is surprisingly hard for LPG to explode, even when in a cylinder. In fact, you would have a hard time trying to blow a full LPG cylinder intentionally. The only time an explosion could happen is when there is a gas leak in a confined place and someone lights a fire. And, it is even harder to ignite LPG consumables. So the perceived risks have been overblown and overstated. Is LPG renewable? This question may appear misplaced, but it is in fact both relevant and valid. Researchers have recently engineered an enhanced version of the E Coli bacteria that is responsible for producing LPG. These bacteria consume sugar and specific enzymes to produce propane instead of their natural cellular material. And this makes Liquefied Petroleum Gas a renewable fuel. At Heating and Plumbing World, we stock several LPG consumables including antifreeze, liquid PTFE thread seal, and pipe thread sealing compound so you can sleep better at night knowing all your pipe joints are safe, reliable and secure.
