Gas Taps

Gas taps, also often referred to as gas valves, are devices that control the flow of gas through a pipe from the supply source. They work in a very similar way to standard water taps. These taps are commonly found in laboratories located in schools, commercial/industrial premises, or research facilities. These laboratories all need an easily controllable source of gas for experiments.

There are several different types of these taps available. The main two types are drop-lever and push-turn.

Drop-lever taps have been around for quite some time and are tough, hardwearing, and easy-to-use. These are the most-popular in school laboratories, and the lever itself is usually a high-visibility yellow coating. This means that it is easy to identify any that have been left 'on' with just a quick scan of the room.

Push-turn taps are often found in more sophisticated laboratories. These allow tighter control of the supply of gas, rather than a simple on/off.

Gas taps are usually bench-mounted, although they can also be wall-mounted and are attached directly to the gas mains. They can be one-way, two-way, or four-way to make the best use of space. Here at Heating and Plumbing World, we offer several gas taps from respected brands such as Altecnic Ltd., and others. We also offer several compression gas cocks for use in residential appliances such as boilers, fireplaces, and gas stoves.

All our gas taps/valves are certified by the BSI, so you can be assured of their safety and effectiveness. If you are unsure as to which gas taps/valves you need for your application, please feel free to contact our team who will be able to advise.
